We invite you to join the city walk with the researcher, Olha Zarechnyuk, on "Building of  the Polytechnics Society and the Search for a New Style."

In the 1870s, Lviv received a full-fledged Faculty of Architecture chaired by a Lviv-based Julian Zachariewicz. Rejecting the works of Vienna architects, Halychyna empowered its economic independence by using the locally extracted and manufactured construction materials and structures. On the basis of this and the achievements of world history of architecture, Zachariewicz’s school had to develop the local recognizable style of architecture.

The walk will focus on several buildings in the city center, such as the house of the Polytechnics Society that continued the ideas in the early ХХ century.
