As part of her postdoctoral research at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Coline Maestracci is conducting a project titled "Couples at War: A Microanalysis of Ukrainians' Private Lives in Times of War." Using an ethnographic approach, this project aims to analyze the effects of war on the private lives of Ukrainians in the context of the war.
The project takes an interdisciplinary approach at the intersection of history, sociology, and political science. The central hypothesis of the project is that the study of the private sphere is crucial for understanding social upheavals in times of war. More broadly, the objective of this research is to contribute to the renewal of war studies in political science by highlighting the importance of studying the private sphere.
During the Urban seminar, she will present her research design and the research leads she has identified during her exploratory fieldwork.
She is an FNRS Postdoctoral Fellow affiliated with the Centre d’Étude de la vie politique (CEVIPOL) at Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). She holds a PhD in political science from Université libre de Bruxelles. She is now a postdoctoral researcher (FNRS-CR, Belgium) at Université libre de Bruxelles. During her residency at the Center for Urban History, Coline is collecting new data for her new research project.
