"Conversations with Those Who Ask About the War" will be published in English

We are delighted to share the news that the English translation of "Conversations with Those Who Ask About the War" will be published by transcript Verlag at the end of May.

The collection is based on interviews with researchers and activists who document the reality of Russia’s war against Ukraine by speaking with eyewitnesses. The idea to document the experiences of those who document arose from the realization that many of our conversations—both formal and informal—remain off-camera, leaving us with little upon which to build the continuity of academic thought.

In 2024, with this publication, the Center for Urban History, in collaboration with the Documenting Ukraine program of the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), INDEX: Institute for Documentation and Exchange, and Research Centre Ukraine / Max Weber Foundation, launched a series of publications titled "Stories of War: A Series on Documentation and Archiving," which address various aspects of working in a radically open and threatened moment.
