On September 17-18, Lodz hosted an international conference entitled "Oral History in Central-Eastern Europe: Current Research Areas, Challenges and Specificity" that brought together over 60 researchers from Poland, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belarus, Russia, Romania, Germany, USA, Israel, and the Netherlands. The conference was co-organized by the Department of Sociology of Culture at the University of Lodz, the Polish Oral History Association, and the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in partnership with the Ukrainian and Czech Oral History Associations.
The keynote speakers were Alexander von Plato (Germany) and Miroslav Vaněk (the Czech Republic). The experience of the Center for Urban History of East Central Europe was presented by Natalia Otrishchenko, project manager of U Stories.
