PhD in Geography, Senior Research Scientist at the Department of Geomorphology and Paleogeography of the Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He defended his PhD thesis on the modern geomorphology of the Kyiv Plateau in 2007.
He works in the field of comprehensive study of the features of modern geomorphology, assessment of the stability of the landscape of urbanized areas under conditions of differentiated tectonic processes and anthropogenic loads; dangerous exogenous land forming processes; engineering and geomorphological research. With the beginning of Russia's full-scale military aggression, Oleh's research interests are focused on the study of landscape transformation as a result of military operations.
During his LivArch fellowship at the Center for Urban History, Oleh will work on a project that aims to identify the main factors and types of military impact on the landscape; determine the main types of landscape damage caused by military operations; carry out morphological, morphometric, and genetic typification of military landforms; analyze international experience in post-war landscape restoration; and propose optimal ways to restore damaged landscape in Ukraine.
