The seminar "Intellectual Biography" with guest Natalia Yakovenko took place. The meeting was dedicated to people, places, and ideas that played a special role in Natalia Yakovenko’s personal development. A seminar was announced by The Center for Humanities of the Ivan Franko National University in Lviv.

Natalia Yakovenko, Ph. D.

is Professor and Chair of History at the National University “Kyiv – Mohyla Academy,” and editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian Humanities Review (published annually from 1998 onwards). She has written a book on the formation and social make-up of the Ukrainian gentry from the fourteenth throught the mid-seventeenth century (1993), published a collection of articles on the normative ideas and life strategies of the gentry and cossackdom in the same period (Paralelnyi svit, 2000), a History of Medieval and Early Modern Ukraine (first edition 1998, expanded edition 2002, four editions today), as well as An Introduction to History (2007) for students. Yakovenko has penned a number of articles on the topic of the “westernization” of the Ukrainian cultural space in “school” and elite Ukrainian culture of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
