The epoch of the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was marked by the activity of the intelligentsia who abandoned the exceptionally passive perception of reality, and made efforts to modernize to meet the challenges of the time. However, their activities were not limited to professional interests but covered various areas of public life. The description is also about the architect and public figure Vasyl Stepanovych Nahirnyi (1848-1921).

During the seminar, the researcher proposes to describe the life of Vasyl Nahirnyi and his architectural, social, and political activities. The seminar will discuss Nahirnyi's economic initiatives that were implemented within the cooperative movement and tried to engage Ukrainian people more in money-goods relations. One of his activity areas meant to create a network of educational and professional institutions for the VET system for Ukrainian young people who were not wealthy enough, also to enable their further self-actualization. The research also covers the activities of Vasyl Nahirnyi during the First World War, and his vision of rebuilding the region.

Working language - Ukrainian.
