16.4.2024

Twenty years ago, on April 16, 2004, Dr. Harald Binder signed the Foundation Charter of the Center for Urban History, thus initiating our institution's vibrant history. Since then, we have been researching cities and their histories, reflecting on and questioning the past, and encouraging thinking about contemporary cities and their future orientations.

The Center would not have been possible without you – our colleagues, partners, friends, and everyone who has visited 6 Bohomoltsia Street. From the very beginning, our guiding goal has been to form new strong connections, a space for community building and dialogue.

For twenty years, our team has been changing and expanding. We thank everyone who has joined the Center at different times for our joint professional growth and consolidation.

We would like to express our gratitude to each of you with whom we have had the opportunity to work on various projects; to those with whom we have co-produced knowledge during conferences, seminars, and summer schools; those who have participated in our public programs and exhibitions; those who co-created, filled, and researched digital projects online; and to everyone who has come and is coming back to the Center for Urban History, be it physically, mentally, or virtually.

We are grateful to the defenders of Ukraine, among whom are our long-term colleagues, partners, and friends, who make it possible for us to continue our activities.

We value the importance of sharing this journey and making history together.

Sincerely,
The team of the Center for Urban History
