До 22 лютого триває зголошення на програму короткотермінових стипендій LivArch, яка ставить за мету спільно дослідити, як “живі архіви” впливають на методологію історичних і соціальних досліджень. Проєкти можуть включати, але не обмежуються: науковими дослідженнями, документуванням, технічними або ж методологічними рекомендаціями.

The call for applications for the LivArch Short-Term Fellowship Program, which aims to jointly explore how living archives influence the methodology of historical and social research, is open until February 22. Projects may include, but are not limited to: research, documentation, technical or methodological recommendations.

On February 11, at 18:30, we invite you to a lecture by Alla Shvets about Sofia Okunevska, the first Ukrainian doctor in Austria-Hungary who changed the medical face of Lviv. Her fate is a local amalgam of different cities, each of which became either a conservative barrier or a space of opportunities on the way to professional fulfillment. The lecture will be held on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science as part of the Center’s public program “Let’s Have a City”.

17 лютого о 18:30 Валентина Шевченко прочитає лекцію про бульвари як маркери модерності у міському просторі. Дослідниця запрошує “прогулятися” бульварами міст Півдня України і подивитися на них не лише, як на частину вуличної інфраструктури чи озеленення, а й як на простори творення нових змістів, символів та моделей поведінки.

On February 17 at 18:30, Valentyna Shevchenko will give a lecture on boulevards as markers of modernity in urban space. The researcher invites you to take a “walk” along the boulevards of the cities of the South of Ukraine and look at them not only as a part of street infrastructure or landscaping, but also as spaces for creating new meanings, symbols, and behavioral patterns.

Цей дослідницький фокус ґрунтується на колаборативній та учасницькій науці. Спираючись на традиції цифрової гуманітаристики, критичних архівних студій та методологій корінних народів, ми маємо на меті окреслити контури спільнот, які виникають навколо документаційних проєктів.

This research focus is informed by collaborative and participatory science. Rooted in traditions of digital humanities, critical archival studies, and indigenous methodologies, it attempts to outline the contours of communities that emerge around documentation projects.

Проєкт Тараса Назарука аналізує практики архівування Telegram в контексті війни в Україні. Емпіричним ядром цього дослідження є Телеграм-Архів війни – ініціатива екстреного архівування, започаткована автором та групою активістів для збереження крихких та ефемерних наборів даних із соціальних мереж, пов’язаних із війною. 

This project by Taras Nazaruk analyzes the practices of archiving Telegram, a widely used social media platform, in the context of the war in Ukraine. The empirical core of this research is the Telegram Archive of the War, an emergency archiving initiative launched by the author and a group of activists to preserve fragile and ephemeral war-related social media datasets.

У рамках цього дослідження Д-ка Наталя Отріщенко прагне окреслити специфіку сприйняття людьми документаційної роботи. Вона припускає, що роздуми про майбутнє записів під час самого інтерв’ю, окрім обговорення та підписання інформованої згоди, дозволяють більш тонко підійти до довготривалої роботи з історіями війни.

In this research, Dr. Natalia Otrishchenko seeks to outline the specifics of people’s perceptions of documentation work. She suggests that thinking about the future of the recordings during the interview itself, in addition to discussing and signing informed consent, allows for a more nuanced approach to long-term work with war stories.

Восьмий випуск щомісячного журналу про культуру та ідеї re/visions фокусується на темі суверенності. В інтерв’ю цього номера автори й авторки говорять про суверенітет як предмет претензій, дискусій і оскаржень – від імперського й постімперського періодів до нинішньої війни. А в есеях – прислухаються  до тихішого регістру суверенності, де слова, пам’ять і місце є домом для опору й гідності.

Issue 8 of re/visions, a monthly magazine about culture and ideas, focuses on the topic of sovereignty. In the interviews, the authors talk about sovereignty as a subject of claims, discussions, and challenges – from the imperial and post-imperial periods to the current war. And in their essays, they listen to the quieter register of sovereignty, where words, memory, and place are home to resistance and dignity.
