У цьому році ми продовжуємо серію публічних лекцій “І буде місто…”. Програма пропонує різні погляди та підходи до вивчення модерного міста не тільки на прикладі Львова, а й розширює географію тем та запрошує до розмови про досвіди інших міст.

This year we are continuing our series of public lectures “Let’s Have a City”. The program of lectures offers different views and approaches to the study of the modern city, not only on the example of Lviv, but also expands the geography of topics and invites to a conversation about the experiences of other cities.

Лекторка розгляне осередки руху та основних агентів змін у сфері громадського здоров’я, розповість про медичні виставки та згадає про гігієнічні часописи.

On April 10, at 18:30, we invite you to a lecture by Vira Trach dedicated to the hygienists’ communities and the hygienic movement in Lviv in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The lecturer will examine the centers of the movement and the main agents of change in the field of public health, talk about medical exhibitions, and recall hygiene magazines.

18 квітня о 18:30 Богдан Шумилович прочитає лекцію про те, як кожна нова технологія змінює наше уявлення про світ і людей, і як телебачення, що на початку пропонувало “бачення на відстані”, ставало інструментом як для зцілення, так і для маніпуляцій наприкінці існування радянської України.

On April 18, at 18:30, Bohdan Shumylovych will deliver a lecture on how each new technology changes our perception of the world and people, and how television, which initially offered “vision at a distance,” became a tool for both healing and manipulation at the end of soviet Ukraine.

25 квітня о 18:30 запрошуємо на лекцію Назара Кіся, під час якої дослідник простежить, як політична конкуренція в Австро-Угорщині призвела до мілітаризації молодіжних товариств і “готовність до боротьби”, яку декларували практично всі громадські об’єднання — від партій до професійних клубів. Лекція презентуватиме напрацювання ширшого дослідницького проєкту “Місто як сцена”.

On April 25, at 18:30, we invite you to a lecture by Nazar Kis, during which the researcher will trace how political competition in Austria-Hungary led to the militarization of youth societies and the “readiness to fight” declared by almost all public associations, from parties to professional clubs. The lecture will present the findings of the broader research project City as a Stage.

1 травня о 18:30 відбудеться лекція Артема Харченка про дітей, які перебували в сиротинцях радянської України у 1920-1930-х роках, а також працівників та працівниць цих закладів. Ми розглянемо, як виглядали міські простори Харкова, Києва, Чернігова, Одеси та Херсона для дітей із сиротинців та які елементи їх наповнювали.

On May 1, at 18:30, Artem Kharchenko will deliver a lecture about children who were in orphanages in Soviet Ukraine in the 1920s and 1930s, as well as the employees of these institutions. We will look at what the urban spaces of Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Kherson looked like for children from orphanages and what elements filled them.

16 квітня о 16:00, до двадцятиріччя започаткування Центру, тепло запрошуємо приєднатися до екскурсії Ольги Заречнюк будинком, який став домом для нашої інституції. “Богомольця, 6” — це невід’ємна складова нашої ідентичності та присутності у місті і радо поділимось історією архітектури будівлі, історіями життя її мешканців, а також будинків по сусідству.

On April 16, at 16:00, on the twentieth anniversary of the Center’s foundation, we cordially invite you to join Olha Zarechnyuk’s tour of the building that has become home to our institution. “Bohomoltsia, 6” is an integral part of our identity and presence in the city, and we will be happy to share the history of the building’s architecture, the life stories of its residents, as well as the houses in the neighborhood.

20 квітня о 13:00 відбудеться міська прогулянка із Ольгою Заречнюк. Прогулянка зосередиться на постаті Мєчислава Потоцького, який у середині ХІХ століття взявся за реставрацію пам’яток, які тоді не вважались цінними: статуя Архангела Михаїла, алебастрові пам’ятники з підземелля домініканського костелу та тепер втрачені герби на стіні Міського арсеналу.

On April 20, at 13:00, a city walk with Olha Zarechnyuk will take place. The walk will focus on the figure of Mieczysław Potocki, who in the mid-nineteenth century took up the restoration of monuments that were not considered valuable at the time: the statue of Archangel Michael, alabaster monuments from the dungeon of the Dominican Church, and the now lost coats of arms on the wall of the City Arsenal.

У лютому 2024 року розпочались внутрішні семінари проєкту “U-CORE: Дослідження збирання, збереження, аналізу та оприлюднення українських свідчень війни 2022 року”. Серія семінарів розроблена з метою поділитися й обговорити виклики лонгітюдних досліджень.

In February 2024, internal seminars of the project “U-CORE: Researching the Collecting, Preserving, Analyzing, and Disclosing of Ukrainian Testimonies of the 2022 War”. The series of workshops is designed to share and discuss the challenges of longitudinal research.

На сайті Міського медіаархіву опубліковано нову колекцію оцифрованих світлин з фотоархіву Національного Наукового Центру “Харківський фізико-технічний інститут” (ННЦ ХФТІ). Оскільки ННЦ ХФТІ багато років функціонував як режимний обʼєкт, фотографії, накопичені за його майже столітню історію, й досі не були презентовані широкому загалу.

The Urban Media Archive has published a new collection of digitized photographs from the photo archive of the National Research Center “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology” (NRC KIPT). Since KIPT has functioned as a restricted facility for many years, the photographs accumulated over its almost century-long history have not yet been presented to the general public.

Квітень 2024 | Під час резиденції у Центрі міської історії Еріка Німіс, мисткиня та дослідниця, досліджуватиме фотографічні колекції та історію Личаківського цвинтаря. Окрім того, що цвинтарі є місцем поховання, вони мають культурну цінність, яка багато говорить про минулу ідентичність міста, та слугують важливим джерелом знань для розуміння складної історії таких місць, як місто Львів.

April 2024 | During her residency at the Center, Érika Nimis, artist and researcher, will be researching the photographic collections and the historic Lychakivsky cemetery. In addition to being burial grounds, cemeteries have a cultural value that speaks volumes about a city’s past identity and serve as an important source of knowledge for understanding the complex history of places like Lviv.

Квітень – травень 2024 | На резиденції Артем Харченко (Харківський національний університет мистецтв імені І. П. Котляревського) працюватиме із проєктом “Дитинство на вулиці, 1920-ті-1930-ті рр.”. У фокусі дослідження історія єврейських дітей, які перебували в системі сиротинців радянської України в міжвоєнний період.

April – May 2024 | At the residency, Artem Kharchenko (I. P. Kotliarevsky Kharkiv National University of Arts) will work on the project “Childhood on the Street, 1920s-1930s,”. The research focuses on the history of Jewish children who were in the orphanage system of Soviet Ukraine in the interwar period.
