Juxtapose
20 marzec 2017
"Juxtapose" one of a series of services designed by "Knight Lab". Northwestern University Knight Lab is a community of designers, developers, students, and educators working on experiments designed to push journalism into new spaces. The Lab provides an open, collaborative environment for interdisciplinary exploration and conversation, where students and professionals learn together and from one another.
"Juxtapose" helps storytellers compare two pieces of similar media, including photos, and GIFs. It’s ideal for highlighting then/now stories that explain slow changes over time (growth of a city skyline, regrowth of a forest, etc.) or before/after stories that show the impact of single dramatic events (natural disasters, protests, wars, etc.).
Below we have made a few examples of how to use the "Juxtapose" in the work with Urban Images.

Yarosalava Mudroho str. in 1945-1955 and 2015.
Chornovil Avenue in 1965 and 2015.
Serbska str. in 1960s and 2015.
All published materials are part of the collections of the Urban Media Archive and Google Street View.
