In July 2019, Center for Urban History hosts Dinara Satbayeva for internship. Dinara Satbayeva is a postgraduate student at Central European University at the Department of Medieval Studies and Cultural Heritage Studies Program in Budapest. Her background is in Political Science and International Relations at Nazarbayev University in Astana.

Dinara’s research interests are in architecture, political activism, urbanism, and heritage. She is currently working on the Master's thesis "Community Engagement in Adaptive Heritage Reuse: Soviet Modernist Architecture in Kazakhstan". The research is striving to understand possible mechanisms for Community Engagement in Adaptive Heritage Reuse of Soviet Modernist Architecture in Kazakhstan, based on the experience from other participatory adaptive reuse projects in post-Soviet space and beyond. The research tackles the problematic political context of post-Soviet Kazakstan, as one of the main issues behind heritage preservation. Some of the observatory cases include ExRotaprint in Berlin and Jam Factory project in Lviv.
