April 9, 2019 The Essence of Life On April 9, at 7 pm, there will be a book presentation by Jaroslaw Abramow-Newerly about professor Waclaw Szybalski, a molecular biology scientist and an intellectual, originating from Lviv. April 10, 2019 (Post)Socialism in China On April 10, at 6.30 pm, Pierre Miège will deliver a lecture on experience of Chinese cities transiting from the work unit (Danwei) system to market mechanisms, focusing on rural migration to urban areas, on the development of a new housing market, the difficulties to build a welfare system, and the emergence of private life and individualization. April 11, 2019 Pilot Tour for Tour Guides On April 11, 2 pm, an excursion on the Second World War and the Holocaust in Lviv will take place. It is based on the materials of the program and workshop for tour guides. The walk is meant for the professional community of tour guides in Lviv who will afterward discuss the approach to present the topic and share their experience and challenges in conducting theme-based excursions. April 14, 2019 Ludwik Fleck and His Thought Collectives On April 11-14, an international workshop dedicated to a microbiologist Ludwik Fleck, his philosophic legacy and historical context feeding his ideas, will take place. Workshop participants will explore the social landscape of the interwar Lviv where different ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups co-existed and co-created. Read more

April 13, 2019 A Pioneer of Historical Epistemology On April 13, at 6 pm, we invite you to the lecture by Hans-Jörg Rheinberger about Ludwik Fleck, and his contribution to the philosophy of science and his concept of the "thought style" and "thought collective." April 16, 2019 Private/Public Photography On April 16, at 6.30 pm, welcome to the lecture by Malgorzata Radkiewicz about private and public photography in terms of subject matter, topic, and the place of presentation/ publication.
