Art Contest

The Center for Urban History of East Central Europe in Lviv organizes a competition among artists and students of art on the topic

"My Lviv"

The winner is awarded € 1000. All styles (from concrete to abstract and naturalistic to surrealistic) and techniques (painting, print, photograph, relief) are welcome. As the award-winning piece will be hung in the Center's reception room on permanent display the work must have the fixed size of 150 cm x 150 cm (excluding frame). Thematically it should reflect the artist's personal view and vision about "his/her" city, Lviv. The Jury will appreciate creative and original proposals, which go beyond the established clichés of Lviv as a romantic town of past glory but will reflect on current urban life and dreams or visions of the future city. The submission can be accompanied by a text explaining the artist's thoughts and intentions.

Please note that all entries will be reviewed by a jury panel in a blind jury process. The identities of the artists will not be disclosed to the jurors. The winning piece and the name of the winner will be announced in mid-August during the Center's summer party. All pre-selected pieces will be available for sale during the following Exhibition to be held at the Center in August and September 2008.
